1984 by pneuma 1984 by pneuma
Cinema 4d
Render Time 3hours 11minutes
Inspired by George Orwell's 1984
This was something I was recently working on for the past week or so. I like how it came out I hope you like it as much as I do...Enjoy
Comments Appreciated
I'm glad everyone likes it... It was a long long process.
2.1gHz, 512 ddr 333mHz ram. Radeon9800pro XP 256 on board ddr ram. It's a custom machine but it still takes really long to render things. Oh yes and to answer how the render time was so low: I rendered it in pieces. I first rendered the pods and then the background behind it. then the rest is photoshop!

Daily Deviation

1984 by ~pneuma

Based on Orwell's 1984 this is one spectacular render, take a closer look at the wonder detail throughout this whole deviation. ( Suggested by Xiomega and Featured by voodoo-prophet )

It was rendered in stages so actually it didnt take much time at all. Most of it is actually photoshop... Especially the glossy coloring the reflections are merley an illusion done in photoshop I copied the image right used polar opposites and a airbrush erase tool and some overlay or the other and got that I did that a few times and just kept erasing till it looked like an actual reflection...My computer was a dog back then so yeah had to do it in sections otherwise it probably would have exploded it actually did eventually catch fire that computer did lol....

Great details. Would have taken a long time to model and texture eveyrthing, though I'm surprised the render time was as short as it was with all those reflective surfaces :O They remind me of eyeballs actually :eye:

Yeah I guess thats completely on how you see the art the intention was big brother is watching and I did it with pods... So yes it does have to do with 1984!

My first thought was Aperture Science GLaDOS which isn't that off topic. The story of Portal is linked with the story of Half Life 2 and some of the Half Life 2 story is clearly inspired by 1984 :) Really nice though

This is really amazing. Honestly, I think it's one of the most underrated things I've came across on this site. Of among millions of others of course. But still, it doesn't make it any less awesome. I can only make 2 dimensional things on photoshop.

To all those who have commented I appreciate it more than youd think I'm glad most of you liked it. It took a long time to render it and hopefully I'll be releasing something new in the near future my computer took a crap on me so I'm currently trying to fix it!

I'm not sure what glados eye pods are but I assure you this had absolutely no inspiration behind it except the story and the pods were constructed completely by accident it was something that I made many years previous to posting this...!

GLaDOS is a computer that was used in the Value game Portal. Basically it's a giant free hanging computer that has eye pods very much like your artwork and that's what I was refering to :) [link] Just looked similar is all.

Thought I'd let you know. Please go post on the rip reporting thead us fractal artists have started; it'll help with the effort to get a cease and desist put on the site. [link]

I hope I have helped a bit.

(Sorry if I have posted this on another one of your works, I have been doing this for a few hours. @.@)

Beutiful work! Great precision on lighting details and tone values.
The reflection was captured perfectly and to think you rendered this. What medium did you use, if I may ask?
